Skywriter is a parody. The tower on this site is an imaginary building, drawn in your browser. It is not the Burj Khalifa, it is not any real building, and it is not in Dubai.

We have no affiliation, association, endorsement, sponsorship or connection of any kind with the Burj Khalifa, with Emaar Properties PJSC, or with any owner, operator or licensor of any real tower. Any resemblance is stylistic and satirical. No name or logo of theirs is used here, and nothing you buy on this site appears on a real building anywhere in the world.

A display slot on this website, for one calendar day — midnight to midnight, ET. Three kinds are sold: a lit band on the tower, sponsorship of the light show, or a neighbourhood building (facade sign and roof sign together).

You are buying visibility on this page and nothing else. There is no guarantee of how many people will see it, and no physical advertising of any kind is included.

Every slot is priced at a whole-dollar amount rolled at random between $10–$100, and re-rolled each time the page loads. That is the point of the site. The price shown to you is signed by our server and honoured for twenty minutes; refreshing gives you a different one.

A slot is held for 30 minutes while you are in checkout. If payment is not completed in that time the hold is released and the slot goes back on sale. Days can be booked up to 730 days ahead.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars.

If your slot does not run because something on our side failed, tell us and we will refund it in full. Once a day has been displayed as booked, it has been delivered. If you change your mind before your day begins, write to us and we will do our best to sort it out.

You are responsible for the text, link and name you submit. Do not submit:

• anything unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
• content impersonating a real person, company or public body, or implying an endorsement that does not exist;
• hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or violent content, or anything targeting a private individual;
• links to malware, phishing, scams, or anything designed to deceive whoever clicks it.

We may remove anything that breaks these rules, without notice. Where we remove something for that reason we will not usually refund it, because the slot was taken out of sale for you.

This is a small site run for fun. We do not promise it will be available at any particular time, and we may change or take down any part of it. Where a paid booking is affected we will refund it.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of this site is limited to what you actually paid us for the booking in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost business.

Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
